So, a pond that has a volume of 50 cubic feet will contain roughly 375 gallons of water. From this figure, you can determine the GPH (Gallon per Hour) of flow rating needed for proper circulation of the water.

Calculating the volume of a pond is reasonably straightforward. First, estimate your surface area in square meters (length x width) and then multiply this by ‘average’ depth for cubic metres. By doing this you will get the pond volume in m3 (cubic meters).
